On-Campus Food Resources

Explore the on-campus resources below for consistent access to healthy and nourishing food.

Thanks to the Student Government Association, undergraduate students facing food insecurity or a financial emergency can receive 10 free dining hall meals. This program is for emergencies only and is not a replacement for financial aid or a long-term meal plan.

Note: the meal swipe program is not available during most breaks when the dining halls are closed.

The UMD Campus Pantry offers good quality and nutritious emergency food in a safe space to UMD undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff experiencing food insecurity. The Campus Pantry is located in the lower level of the South Campus Dining Hall Building.

Local & National Food Assistance

Find additional food resources beyond campus, including SNAP benefits and local food banks and pantries.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps, provides supplemental income for purchasing food for low-income households. College students aged 18 through 49 who are enrolled at least part-time may be eligible for SNAP if they meet the exemption criteria, which include participating in the federal work-study program and/or working a part-time job of at least 20 hours per week. For application assistance and questions, call Maryland Hunger Solutions at 866-821-5552 or another SNAP Outreach Community Based Organization.

Get food through the College Park Food Bank between 9:30–11 a.m. on Saturday mornings in the parking lot of 9704 Rhode Island Ave, College Park, MD.

Find food using the Prince George's County food pantry listings (updated weekly) or through the nationwide food pantry organization.
